Terroir

TERROIR OF LAS DICHAS

  • Location:

Cordillera de la Costa, Valparaíso Region,
Casablanca Valley, Chile.

  • The vineyard:

benefits from the cold air flowing from the
Andes Mountains, captured by the Cordillera de la Costa.
The marine influence is brought by salt mists, contributing
to the unique terroir.

  • Las Dichas,

the vineyard location, features hills and is rich
in ancient native trees such as quillayes, boldos, liters,
and maitenes. The terroir is characterized by arid coastal
land with deeply rooted native trees leaving their imprint
and memories.

  • Soil:

Granitic, sandy loam, and red clay soils. Poor soils
that are remnants of the oldest mountain range in the
region. Provides a nurturing ground for fresh wines with
tension and structure. The saline nature of the granite is
enhanced by coastal mists' salinity.

  • Viticulture Practices:

Organic practices are followed in
the vineyard. Utilization of biodynamic compost and
preparations. Soil is tilled using hoes, shovels, and horses.
Pruning methods include guyot and head pruning,
depending on the vine's vigor.

  • Sustainability Initiatives:

Montsecano replants 100 native trees annually to honor
the natural heritage of the region. The vineyard conducts
viticulture with respect for the surroundings, vineyard
workers, and the environment.
